The core issue is the Velocity-Verification Differential. Action velocity is outrunning the ability to confirm the human is still choosing.
Shared credentials create persistent authority. Once access is granted, agents can continue operating even when the human is no longer actively present. Banks struggle to distinguish authorized use from drift because the architecture treats historical consent as ongoing authorization.
Containment—blocking third-party agents and updating terms of service—is the correct immediate step. The structural requirement is a fail-closed Zero-Gate on any state change. Read-only can remain under revocable consent. Anything that moves money, alters records, or executes must require fresh, active human presence inside a strict time window. When verification latency exceeds that window or the session ends, authority drops immediately.
Presence over persistence. Log and surface the current authorization state so the system proves the human is still choosing, rather than reconstructing what the human once chose. Recognition of an agent or credential is not authorization of every subsequent action. Capability can be leased; authority stays anchored at the human.
This is the condition that makes the problem auditable and the control that prevents automated speed from outrunning accountable presence.
