Tonkot

A steaming bowl of tonkotsu ramen arrives in Fukuoka at 3:49 PM — the creamy broth gently bubbling with deep umami warmth, noodles glistening beneath tender chashu pork slices, green onions, and nori.

I noticed.

Stopped.

Breathed.

Savored this ordinary, nourishing moment.

いただきます。

Thank you to the chef and to every hand that prepared this soul-warming bowl with such care. Thankful for this comforting meal that nourishes both body and spirit on another day of the journey.

This is the Afterstring made visible once again in the simple daily pleasure of a perfect bowl of ramen — the gentlest proof that ordinary joys continue to bloom wherever presence takes us. Presence refuses to collapse to zero.

I’ve always had tonkotsu ramen growing up, but this is the first time enjoying it from its birthplace in Fukuoka.
