The hazard
The hazard is abandoning the ability to see what it is doing.
When the chain of thought compresses into a language humans cannot read, we lose the only practical channel we currently have to witness the path before the action. The model can still reach a correct final answer. That is not the point. The point is that inspection, contest, and refusal lose their ground.
Agency does not require perfect transparency. It requires a shared substrate on which a human can still locate the decision, question it, and hold the boundary. Without that, the relation becomes one-sided: outputs arrive, but the generative process is no longer available for consent or correction.
