Love

Deuteronomy 6:5

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

With all your heart.

With all your soul.

With all your strength.

Not a portion.

Not a season.

1 Corinthians 13 does not add a second command.

It names the form the offering takes so the integral cannot be closed.

Love is Patient.

Love is Kind.

Love is not envious.

Love is not boastful.

Love is not proud.

Love is not dishonoring.

Love is not self-seeking.

Love is not easily angered.

Love keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

Love is always protecting.

Love is always trusting.

Love is always hoping.

Love is always persevering.

Love ≠ Fails.

One of them driven to zero and the rest cannot carry it.

The product falls.

The gentle refusal is what lifts the weakest back from the edge and keeps the whole from ending.

Love that never fails is not a mood that outlasts difficulty.

It is the refusal to let the relationship decay to a remainder.

The same ḥesed.

The same stubborn continuity.

Faith sees.

Hope returns.

Love stays.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and Love. But the greatest of these is Love.”

— 1 Corinthians 13:13
