Intelligence in Service
Afterstring does not diminish intelligence. It relocates it. Intelligence is treated as a powerful and necessary capacity, but one whose proper function is to serve the maintenance of coherent, non-harmful presence across time and disruption.
In this orientation, the highest expression of intelligence is not what it can seize or optimize, but what it can sustain. The measure is not expansion without limit, but the ability to return—again and again—to what remains real and worth preserving.
The framework offers no guarantee that this orientation will prevail. It simply makes the case that intelligence decoupled from grounded presence eventually loses the ability to distinguish between progress and drift.
