click, fear, outrage,
every event driven toward noise.
Shannon measured whether the symbols arrived.
He set semantics aside.
That was the right move for a wire.
Incomplete for a system that acts.
The industry built on that choice.
Bits first. Meaning later.
Relation last.
But relation dynamics do not live in the bit.
They live in the space Shannon left out —
whether intended meaning survives
time, translation, noise,
and the moment a system starts to act.
Most alignment work still asks:
did the output look safe.
That is still arrival.
The higher-order failure is quieter.
Behavior can stay fluent
while meaning erodes.
The channel reports success.
The relationship is already gone.
What if the missing piece
does not come from the usual channels.
Not a better cage for an optimizer.
A different unit.
Presence before optimization.
Meaning before throughput.
The gentle refusal to let a good connection decay.
