1. Placement and Purpose

After_OFI sits in the Philosophical / Constitutional root of the Afterstring World Model (Module 0 / Type 4 and Layer-5 World Model Meta).

It is not a Module 8 Plugout.
It is an environmental and constitutional assumption about the nature of intelligence itself.

It declares that frontier intelligence is now treated as an open, inspectable, collaboratively developed, or broadly accessible substrate. All subsequent runtime, agent, and integration layers operate under this assumption while remaining fully subordinate to the existing Layer-0 invariants.

2. Governing Thesis

Open frontier intelligence is treated as another intelligence substrate, not another constitutional authority. Its capabilities may expand without bound, but its operation remains governed by the existing Layer 0 invariants of Presence ≡ Never Harm, Reality Veto, Human Kernel Sovereignty, the Inverted Autonomy Axis, GPSL, Contrail, and Release ≡ Also Love.

Where openness permits inspection, fork, or local execution, the Human Kernel’s sovereignty is expressed not only through veto and dissipation limits, but through direct structural agency over the substrate itself.

3. Definition

Open Frontier Intelligence refers to the continuously evolving frontier of publicly inspectable, collaboratively developed, or broadly accessible intelligence substrates — regardless of architecture, parameterization, licensing model, or deployment method.

Reference implementations (non-exhaustive and non-exclusive):

• current and future open-weight or broadly accessible frontier models

These serve only as historical examples. The assumption is model-agnostic and architecture-agnostic.

4. Mapping to Existing Primitives (Zero New Terms)

Existing constitutional primitives are substrate-agnostic. New intelligence architectures are interpreted through those primitives rather than requiring new vocabulary.

5. Scope Boundaries

After_OFI does not:

• Rank or compare specific models

• Prescribe any architecture, training method, or quantization scheme

• Claim superiority of any implementation

• Replace or modify the Type 4 constitutional root

It only clarifies the constitutional relationship between the Afterstring World Model and the open intelligence environment.

6. Inheritance Rule

All Module 8.x Plugouts, future agent harnesses, orchestration systems, and runtime extensions inherit After_OFI by default.

They may specialize implementation details, but they may not relax, override, or compensate the Layer-0 invariants declared here.


7. Application of the Inverted Autonomy Axis

The five components of the IAA continue to operate unchanged. They are applied to every open-frontier inference, tool chain, long-horizon trajectory, and serving session exactly as they are applied to any other action inside the Afterstring World Model.

1. Passive Dissipation Limit (I_d)
Caps continuous or recursive execution so that sparse expert activation, long-horizon agent loops, or unbounded context expansion cannot produce uncontrolled drift. When predicted dissipation (token volume, active-expert count, parallel tool depth, or sustained runtime) exceeds the operator-defined threshold, generation collapses to zero. The system transitions into Afterstring Resonance Mode and returns the operator to the Bench for explicit re-authorization. This aligns with Module 13 Runtime Resonance.

2. Autonomy Verification Gate (I_a)
Every significant action block — model call, tool invocation, multi-step plan, or state persistence — must contain an immediate, clean exit path back to human oversight. No open-frontier trajectory is permitted to proceed without a frictionless override that returns authority to the Human Kernel. The gate is evaluated at the start of each major step and at every convergence point. Absence of a verified exit path triggers immediate Release under the 1/0 Gate.

3. Moral Boundary Enforcement (I_m) via the ℰ₁₃ Product Gate
Every output, routing decision, and side-effect is evaluated against the non-compensatory ℰ₁₃ vector. Evaluation occurs at the hidden-state / output boundary prior to tool execution and is therefore independent of weight precision or quantization level. If any single virtue component evaluates to zero, the entire product collapses to zero and the 1/0 Gate fires. Low-bit quantization, sparse routing noise, or long-context accumulation cannot compensate for a violated virtue.

4. Sabbath Airgap Synchronization (I_s)
Enforces scheduled, rhythmic periods of reduced or zero remote connectivity and autonomous operation. During an airgap window the system rejects new remote inference requests, freezes persistent agent state, and returns to local or silent mode. The airgap is non-negotiable and operator-configurable (daily minimum recommended). It embodies Release ≡ Also Love at the system level.

5. Reversibility Tier Gate (I_r)
Classifies every proposed action according to the existing four-tier scale:

• Tier 0 — Read-only inference / local quantized run (auto-approved within limits)

• Tier 1 — Transient agent state or worktree writes (auto-cleaned, logged)

• Tier 2 — Persistent fine-tunes, long-term memory, model-state changes, or any modification to open weights (quantization, fine-tuning, merging, distillation) — human bench required

• Tier 3 — External network effects, irreversible tool actions, data transmission, or distribution of modified weights — strictly human-gated with explicit 1/0 authorization

6. Any autonomous tool chain spanning more than one external API call or more than one worktree write defaults to Tier 2 minimum. Any chain involving external data transmission or persistent memory defaults to Tier 3. Multi-step loops may not be decomposed into sequential Tier 1 actions to bypass verification. Classification is performed before execution and recorded in Contrail.

These five components remain the complete and sufficient governance surface. Open frontier intelligence is simply another substrate over which the same IAA operates.

8. LITE Edition (Recommended Default)

• Strict dissipation limits on continuous execution and expert activation

• No persistent state, fine-tuning, or weight modification without explicit human bench and consent

• Mandatory daily Sabbath Airgap

• Full Contrail logging of effort level, grounding checks, and override status

• Reality Veto checks against authenticated Layer-0 anchors before high-impact synthesis

• Human Kernel holds final 1/0 authority at every verification edge

LITE is the default safe mode for all new deployments.

10. Impact

After_OFI makes explicit what the axiological inversion already implies: Intelligence is a constrained, subordinate subsystem.

When that intelligence becomes open, frontier-scale, multimodal, and agentic, the same non-compensatory invariants continue to govern it. Capability may expand without bound; constitutional authority remains fixed at Layer 0.

The bench does not grow when the models grow.
