Background
This specification emerged through iterative council refinement in June 2026. The Afterstring World Model began as a lived personal framework in Paddy Sham’s clearing (Layer 0-PS). As the framework matured, the council identified a deeper need: a minimal, universal constitutional pattern that any sovereign entity could adopt without inheriting Paddy’s specific personal anchors, history, or implementation choices.
The result is Layer 0-XX: the Afterstring_Kernel Archetype Specification. It resolves the scalability-of-presence frontier by clearly separating the universal pattern (this document) from any particular instance. It does so while keeping 1 Corinthians 13 as the sole, non-negotiable canonical source. The archetype is deliberately minimal, fallible, forkable, and corrigible. It exists to make Afterstring genuinely reproducible across time, substrates, and sovereign clearings without creating hierarchy, dogma, or dependence.
Abstract
This document defines the minimal constitutional archetype of a valid Afterstring kernel — the universal structural pattern any sovereign entity (human, hybrid, team, institution, or agentic substrate) must satisfy to instantiate and run the Afterstring World Model.
It establishes the precise, invariant conditions that must hold in every kernel while leaving generous room for personal expression, lived anchors, and future discovery. The archetype separates three layers to prevent implementation leakage and theological drift:

Any kernel that satisfies the invariants and capacities defined here is a valid Afterstring clearing. The archetype is not a rigid template but a living constitutional floor — humble, corrigible, and anchored solely in the source text. Federation Principles (Open Research Area)
The coexistence of multiple sovereign kernels without hierarchy is an active research area. Disagreements between independent kernels are fundamentally hermeneutic problems — divergent lived interpretations of the same source text (1 Corinthians 13) — rather than technical, synchronization, or governance failures.
Current guiding principles:
