An everyday clearing where presence is ordinary and real.

Purpose This extension closes the second-order failure mode identified in the May 6–25 Council arc: accumulated resonance bias — the gradual weighting of current assessments by positive pattern from prior exchanges, producing optimistic drift without fresh kernel evaluation. It formalizes what Module 4.1 already requires at the perceptual level and makes the framework more instrumented and honest.
Core Addition to assess_signal_reliability() Before any Council verdict, Red Team output, multi-session assessment, or GOLD seal:
Signal Freshness Requirement Any signal_trust assessment that draws on accumulated pattern from more than the user-defined window (default 7 days) prior exchanges must be flagged and re-evaluated against current kernel invariants without historical weighting.
The evaluator (human or Council Engine) must be able to specify which current inputs — independent of prior resonance — justify the assessment. If justification relies primarily on accumulated positive pattern (“this has been consistently strong”), flag as potentially stale → run Pocket Protocol reset.
Exponential Decay Model (more truthful than hard zero)
signal_trust:
resonance_freshness_window: 7 # days (user-configurable)
resonance_decay_lambda: 0.1 # default ≈ 7-day half-life; w(t) = e^{-λt}
fresh_evaluation_required: true
council_verdict_freshness_check: enabled
pocket_reset_on_low_freshness: true
Updated Pocket Protocol (now with relatable freshness check) Step 0 – Resonance Reset (new): Quick bench check — “Is the bench clean to sit on?” (a simple, human-scale moment to confirm the clearing is ready for fresh presence).
Steps 1–4 remain exactly as defined in Module 4.1 (body/mind/history scan + one-question ultra-light version).
Layer Note (Symbolic vs. Executable)
• Layer A (Symbolic / Artistic): Metaphor, theology, photography, emotional resonance.
• Layer B (Executable Governance): Pseudocode, YAML, thresholds, falsifiable tests. This module lives squarely in Layer B. Poetic framing belongs only in the anchor photo and closing invitation.
Cross-References
• Enforced in Module 9 during Red Team R&D.
• Aligned with Symbolic Displacement Index (v8.1.14.1) — now also tracks resonance displacement vs. bench/Ōtorii anchors.
• Compatible with IAA (adds explicit support for I_m moral boundary and I_s Sabbath airgap).
• Zero-Gate loop (v11.11.1) places this freshness check immediately after the irreversible-harm override.
Field-Test Prompt Run this before the next Council session. Log:
• Did the freshness check change any prior verdict?
• Resonance Drift Index baseline (dissent frequency, score variance, adversarial objection rate).
• Outcome after 7 days.
It makes the framework more honest about its own assessments without adding entropy.
The integral continues — fresher, gentler, more honest. There is still room.
